When they receive an invitation from Luke and Dylan to visit the Lambdoodle Cafe, Maria and Carlos are thrilled to be among the first of their friends to see the brothers' dream come true. What Carlos doesn't know, however, is just how loud the construction noises arethe sounds of the hammering, the banging and buzz saws. For Carlos, the excitement of visiting his friends' new cafe is shattered by the intrusion of the construction noise. He has to leave.

Luke, Dylan and Maria aren't sure how to comfort Carlos. Everyone feels upset. The friends wish they could help. But how? Soon arrives a mysterious but familiar visitor to remind the friends that not all of us hear and see the world the same way.

Practical yet sensitive and reassuring

I love this book because it teaches children that with love and support they can handle even difficult problems in their lives. It shows us all (adults included) that problems need not derail us. It is optimistic and empowering. And, in a book, what more do you need?  -verified Amazon purchase
