We're delighted that you are here and look forward to your participation as we invite you to join our mission to connect and unite those of us who are traveling this extraordinary Special Needs journey.

Whether you arrive here at the beginning, middle, or otherwise; whether you are a parent, special needs person, sibling, grandparent, caregiver, teacher, coach, friend, or extended family member; whether you are seeking a kindred spirit and/or information to spur you in your quest to comfort and help the special person in your life, we welcome you.

Who are the members of this special community?

We are huge in number yet often feel isolated.

One in four families has a child with special needs. This is a stunning statistic given that the needs, which vary in nature, last a lifetime and permeate every aspect of the family. It is inevitable that everyone will know someone with special needs, regardless if a diagnosis directly impacts a family.

We are huge in number yet often feel alone.

The enormity of dealing with everything, simultaneously managing emotional, physical, medical, educational and psychological needs, can be overwhelming.

We are huge in number yet often feel completely on our own.

The majority of our time is focused on navigating information and resources, be it for diagnosis, potential treatment, early intervention, medical options, therapeutic services, insurance issues, legal issues, education and academic issues, family issues, worries about the future, research and perhaps, hope for a cure.

We are huge in number yet often feel invisible.

Living in angst and exhaustion leaves little time or wherewithal to reach out to others. There is a great need to meet those in like situations; finding the energy to do so likely rests near the bottom of the priority list. Yet when that connection is made it is tantamount to a huge hug.

Consider Lambdodle your connection hug to this amazing community and here's what you'll discover.

Inspired by my sons, Luke and Dylan, I know first-hand the raw experience this journey entails. My desire to create Lambdoodle is founded with the hope that others wouldn't feel quite so alone, isolated, invisible and left to their own devices as we have often felt.

So, let's get right to it as I imagine many of you have been searching for information, resources and friends for quite some time. You may even have arrived here filled with apprehension, frustration, and the strong wish that you'd never have to be here. But here we are and because we're in this together, it is with sensitivity to the many chapters of this journey that I guide you through Lambdoodle.com. Feel free to peel off in the direction that best suits your needs but be sure to return, as there is something for everyone, including entertainment and most of all, a celebration of these exceptional lives!

We're delighted that you're here and warmly welcome you to the Lambdoodle Community. As soon as you enter, make yourself at home - after all, we're family! On behalf of Luke and Dylan and the entire Lambdoodle Team, thank you for participating and helping to make a difference in the lives of some of our most vulnerable and deserving citizens.

In the wise words of Margaret Mead, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Hugs of Possibilities - Laurie
